Computer-Based Programmed Instructional Strategy and Tertiary Institution Students’ Achievements in Nigeria

This study was conducted to determine the effect of computer-based programmed instructional strategy (CBPIS) on tertiary institutions students’ achievement in Nigeria with intention proffering solution evident need improve low achievements. Poor is one problems facing educationists which hindered them appropriate implementation their educational missions. It has been seen various researches that poor academic presents may lead presence a group students not being able pursue courses others because weak potentials. Therefore, carry out this research proffer issue became necessary period time. Three questions and hypotheses guided study. The delimited Year two cost accounting South East zone Nigeria. adopted Quasi-experimental design pre-test, post-test non-randomized control group. Two (2) universities were simple randomly sampled for experiment. divided into groups again by random sampling, university each One comprised 45 both gender used as treatment other made up 31 All classes experiment intact classes. package developed conventional teaching instrument data collection 50-item multiple choice Cost Accounting Achievement Test (CAAT), validated three experts measurement evaluation experts. reliability tested using (K-R20) approach obtained coefficient 0.89 test re-test estimate stability 0.84. Data collected analysed mean standard deviation while null (ANCOVA) at 0.05 level significance. Based analysis, result revealed that: taught had significantly higher scores than lecture method, there no differences interaction treatments Accounting. implication Computer-based Programmed Instructional Strategy enhances learning environment turn helps sustain interest consequently achievements generally. recommended based findings (i) Every Department should be firm ensuring newly admitted come along computer systems effective strategy. (ii)Lecturers advised adopt computer-base teaching/learning all studied institutions. (iii) A software can centrally monitor its usage also designers guard against inappropriate application students.
